How to Make Money With Alternatives to eBay

We all know eBay and that the site has become the number one destination for auction shoppers online. The eBay site has also become one of the most visited ecommerce sites on the internet. What many people do not know are that there are some alternatives to eBay. The traffic to these other site are lower and many people are not aware of them. That does not mean you can not make money with these other sites. There are easy ways that you can take advantage of some of the better sites to make money without paying fees.
The one major problem for eBay sellers is the amount of money they spend to complete a transaction. It's true that eBay brings large number of people to look at your items, but they also charge a high percentage of the sale price for the service.
What the alternative sites allow you to do is capture new sales. What a seller needs to do is be a little creative and get people to buy at the other auction site. This will save you the cost of some fees. With some of my eBay auction I enclose a postcard with details about my other auction and how the customer can find me online. It is not against eBay policy to insert a post card or other promotional item with your packages. What you do is keep selling on eBay and insert the post card with the information for your other auctions. Slowly your eBay shoppers will search for you and buy at the other site. This will save you selling fees although you will still have to pay for Paypal or other payment services.
The sites that I found to be the best for alternative sales are www.ioffer.com and www.ecrater.com and both sites allow you to create a free store.
With ioffer there is a large number of user that do actively buy on the site. They also offer very low fee's you only pay when you sell an item. The ioffer site also let's you build a store which you can stock with your merchandise. What I like to do is list as many items as I can and forget about it for awhile. It's nice to look in my email and see I made a sale without much effort. The only promotion I use for my ioffer sales is a postcard to current eBay user sent with their order. There is also a flyer printing program on ioffer that let's you print out a flyer to hang in your local area. The flyer has your item number and the address to find the item online. Overall I would say ioffer is one of the best secrets for selling online.
The eCrater site is more like having your own store online see full profile at http://www.dead.net/member/eweknow. It is not an auction site, but a site that let's you build your store and stock it with as many items as you would like. The search engines pick up the store items and you will start to get sales after a few week of listing the item. As for marketing I do the exact same as with ioffer. Promote the items in your store to your eBay customers. There is only one other thing I do to drive traffic to my store. There are some items that I create a PPC (pay per click) advertising campaign on Google AdWords. This is only done for items that have a great profit margin. As lower priced items might not cover the cost of the PPC and you would end up losing a lot of money.
As you can see there are alternative to eBay and it the way that you promote your listing that will bring sales and success.
